 If I were hired by Baruch College to use new media to improve Baruch, I would first improve Baruch's website. At first glance, the Baruch's website looks very old and outdated. It doesn't look very visually appealing or user friendly. Compared to Hunter's website where it looks much more vibrant and more inviting to use. The second thing I would suggest is to have a bigger social media presence. I think using social media would be a quick and easy way to spread news around about school events or general PSA's. I'm sure a lot of students use social media, so having a larger social media presence can help students be more informed about what is going on at Baruch.

    I was totally agree with your idea on our Baruch website. It seems to be outdated comparing to other college websites. They definitely should rebuild their home website since current students and new students will be using it more due to this pandemic.

    This is a great advice Jason especially the idea of replacing the Baruch's website. I had problems using it several times as it was either slow due to high traffic or because it didn’t have the correct resources that I was looking for. There should be a centralized website that has all resources from Baruch College and its different departments instead of making users to search different websites to look up simple information such as looking up information on a certain major.

 I have contributed to a couple categories on our class wiki. Which are: "new media in business," "new media in food, beverage & hospitality industry," "new media in sports," "new media and devices," and in "gaming." I choose these to add to because I have some interest in each of these topics. I have added content, edited content, and added photos. One thing I noticed when I was looking at the business section was that it didn't have a section about different types of business. And since I learned about it in my law class that I am taking I decided to add it as a section because it is important when talking about business. I also added to the "Disadvantage of Social Media in NBA" because it was something I researched for the term paper and decided to contribute to that section.

Privacy

 Privacy has always been an issue with new media and social media specifically. And now more than ever it has been magnified with social media giants like Twitter, Facebook, and Google, being brought to court for their privacy issues. Many of us are told to be careful of what you post online because it will be there forever. With the amount of people using social media now, it can be screenshotted and passed around before it gets deleted. Social media engineers have created algorithms to guess what someone likes and show them more of that as a way to keep them on the app. I think Netflix's documentary, "The Social Dilemma," explains in great detail the privacy and confidentiality issues of social media.

 According to Jamie King's "Take Advantage of P2P - not fear it" file sharing is a sharing and transmitting of computer data in a network or internet with various access levels. This allows the same file to be passed across different computers anywhere in the world. According to the same article, P2P file sharing is a peer to peer file sharing which allows individuals to access media files using software program that searches and locates computers that have the file that is wanted. An example of P2P file sharing is Google Drive and the features it comes with like Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets. Multiple individuals can work on the same project at the same time at different locations. P2P has also grown to getting loans from one another.
